Odonata Checklist of Bangi Forest Reserve and UKM Bangi Campus

Below is the Odonata checklist of Bangi Forest Reserve and UKM Bangi Campus. The data is based on my own collection accumulated over the past three years and the specimens in Centre for Insect Systematics of UKM. A total of 74 species in 13 families was recorded. Anax panybeus Hangen 1867 is a new record for Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. The checklist was published in ECHO and can be accessed at http://www.asia-dragonfly.net/Articles/Echo_5_Jan_2008.pdf.

Libellulidae - Rhyothemis triangularis

Rhyothemis triangularis Kirby, 1889
Rhyothemis triangularis is one of the beautiful libellulid dragonfly species. The metalic body and patches at the base of both fore and hind wings are particularly striking. It is normally found at forest edges with exposed water body covered with reeds and grasses. They are frequently spotted pearching under sun. Male and female individuals have similar marking. Size: hw=24mm.
